We are officially into the second month of the year already! That happened fast didn’t it?
February being the month of lovers can get quite confusing for those wanting to celebrate Valentine’s day with their partners. Both my husband and I are not the kind who enjoy the traditional kind of Valentine’s day celebrations. We always prefer to do something adventurous or some kind of activity.
So this year I have put together a list of my top 10 picks for you to celebrate your Valentine’s day in a unique and fun manner. There are so many options for you to choose from. Hope you get inspired and have an awesome celebration!
1. Dine in the dark
In today’s day and age where we are so engrossed in our phones and have no time to ourselves, wouldn’t it be great if we could just shut all that out and only experience the company of each other!
If you truly want to experience something unique then you should check the dining in the dark experience at Noire, located at the Fairmont Dubai. Diner’s will experience a complete loss of vision for 11/2 hours. You’ll have to trust the skilled staff of Noire to guide you through this one of a kind experience.
Price: AED 360 per person (including a three-course set menu, selected house grape and a glass of bubbly
2. Canoe in the Mangroves
If you are a nature lover then this is something that you would surely love. My husband and I did this for our first Valentines together after we were engaged and I have such lovely memories from that day.
The Mangrooves in Abu Dhabi have a unique marine eco-system. You will encounter a variety of terrestrial and marine life as you paddle through the mangroves.
Kayaking is a fun activity and you need to just be moderately fit for it. It is also possible to go kayaking if you don’t have any past experience. Please make sure you carry a waterproof case for your phone and I would highly recommend only carrying waterproof camera’s.

100 Dhs per child 6-10 years
- Yas Links

3. Picnic in the desert
This one is one of my favorite picks. Both my husband and I are nature lovers and would choose a night under the stars any day! But do keep in mind if you plan to do an overnighter in the desert then you would need to rough it out in terms of going to the toilet.
You could choose to keep it simple by taking a take away from your favorite restaurant or you could do an overnight my carrying your camping tents and BBQ set to do some live cooking! You could get some battery-operated fairy lights, and hang them up around the tent. I had seen some at the store Charming Charlie & Ikea.
Where to go
There is truly no shortage of places to go camping in Dubai. You could head to the hidden gem Nesnass beach, sand dunes in Hatta, Al Qudra lakes, or the Hajar moutains. The options are endless.
What to take
Grab your picnic blanket and basket and to a place of your choice. For all your camping needs you can either head to Ace Hardware or Adventure HQ to get anything related to outdoor camping. You’ll find things from tents to picnic baskets to lights and chairs.
Price: The cost for this really depends on what you want to do. As per my estimate it could be anything from free to AED. 1,000.
