The ultimate test of physical strength, wits and teamwork at Dubai’s unique new attraction
Dubai is a truly one place where you can never ever really get bored and not know what to do. The city has it all from luxury hotels, vibrant lifestyle destinations, to shopping malls and extreme sports of every variety. Keeping that in mind, get ready to experience a new adventure that the city has not seen before – TEPfactor. Located at JBR The Walk, TEPfactor offers an adrenaline-pumping ambience from the moment you enter the venue.
Looking from the outside you’ll never know what lies inside. Once was inside, the place had transformed into a underground cave. The challenges take place amidst the nooks and crannies of a concealed cave, whose walls are adorned with the occasional burst of crystal-like segments, reminiscent of rare amethyst and quartz geodes.
Once our team of three was formed the staff explained how we had to play the game. Normally you can form a team of between two to six people. The teams would have to tackle 21 challenges, consisting of four distinctive varieties, that aim to put their physical, mental, team-working and cooperation skills to the test.
Every challenge has its own individual time limit. It took us more than one try to understand some of the challenges but that is the beauty if this place. You can take same challenge again if you didn’t get it the first time or also if you want to beat your own score and think you can do better the next time. Some of the challenges required balancing acts that I could complete with the help of my other team members, some tasks required a lot of patience; you really have to play together as a team in order to progress from one task to another.
After completing four challenges in each category, teams will have to use their mental prowess to put together clues from the previously completed challenges, to gain access to a fifth task. Our team was able to complete only two main tasks. In 2 hours so I guess we need to head back there to complete the rest. You could easily spend up to 4 hours there if you want to complete all the challenges.
So what I really liked about this place was that unlike other places you can move between various different areas. It’s not rigid where you can move ahead only if you crack a certain challenge. If you don’t get something move on and you can come back to it later. Also there are three different ranks of difficulty – bronze, silver and gold – with bronze being the easiest to gold presenting the most extreme level. This is great as for some challenges we took bronze and for some gold, and for some challenges we actually took silver the first time and then did the same challenge again taking gold so we could score more points! Yup, that’s why I loved this place, no restrictions.
TEPfactor would be a great place for all age groups from 8 years onwards. You could have corporate team building exercises to birthday parties. The team building aspects of TEPfactor provide the ideal adrenaline pumping experience for corporate or school days. Far removed from stuffy boardrooms, a corporate trip to TEPfactor will see colleagues taking to the tunnels of the cave, challenging each other and themselves all while having a good laugh, that will boost morale and team working capabilities. Furthermore, the unique tests of various skills create the perfect hands on learning environment for students, as the trials call for the combined use of logic and intellect. The entire venue can be booked for such occasions, with catering options also available, making for a memorable day unlike any other.
